Volkswagen

German car manufacturer. The original VW car, with its distinctive beetle shape, was produced in Germany in 1938, to a design by Ferdinand Porsche. It was still in production in Latin America in the late 1980s, by which time it had exceeded 20 million sales.

Volkswagen was one of the companies targeted by former Nazi prisoners used for slave labour in their fight for compensation. In 1998 the company agreed to their claims.
