Volo di Notte

Opera in one act by Dallapiccola (libretto by the composer, after St-Exupéry), produced at Florence on 18 May 1940. The story concerns the airfield director Rivière, who is a pioneer in promoting night flights during the 1930s. His stubborn insistence is partially responsible for the death of Simona Fabien's pilot husband, whose plane runs out of fuel.
