Volusia County

County in northeast Florida; area 2,883 sq km/1,113 sq mi; population (1990) 370,700. It is situated on the Atlantic Ocean. Its administrative headquarters is De Land. The county has a lively tourist industry, particularly in beachfront communities such as Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, and New Smyrna Beach. Sprinkled with lakes and natural springs, the interior regions rely on tourism and the cultivation of citrus groves.
