Vorenburg, James

Vorenburg, James (1928– )

US lawyer and educator. He received public recognition as assistant special prosecutor to the Watergate Special Prosecution Force 1973–75, which led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

He was executive director of the federal Committee on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice 1965–67 and was a trustee of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Legal Defense Fund.

Vorenburg was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his legal career as law clerk to Justice Felix Frankfurter 1953–54. He taught at Harvard Law School from 1962 and was dean from 1981.
