As German recruits dwindled, Himmler began recruiting from Scandinavian and Dutch volunteers and then abandoned the pure Aryan requirements to recruit from any occupied country, resulting in ‘Waffen SS Legions’ from Latvia, Ukraine, Albania, Hungary, and other places. |
