Waipahu

Town in Honolulu County, Hawaii; population (1990) 31,400. It is situated on south Oahu, on the northwest shore of Pearl Harbor, 18 km/11 mi northwest of Honolulu. The original settlement was surrounded by sugarcane fields, and developed around a sugar mill. It is now a residential suburb for Pearl Harbor and for workers at nearby industrial plants.
