Waitsburg

Town in Walla Walla County, southeast Washington; population (1990) 1,000. It is situated on the Touchet River, 26 km/16 mi north-northeast of Walla Walla. Founded in 1859, it raised cattle, horses, and wheat, and had a gristmill. After the railway arrived in 1881, it prospered as a grain milling and shipping centre. Situated in a fertile farm area, it trades and distributes wheat and apples.
