Waldo, Samuel Lovett

Waldo, Samuel Lovett (1783–1861)

US painter. He was active as a portrait painter in Hartford, Connecticut, around 1799, and then became an itinerant artist. He studied with Benjamin West and John Singleton Copley in London between 1806 and 1808, then settled in New York City in 1809 and, after 1820, was the painting partner of William Jewett. He was born in Windham, Connecticut.
