Waldo
| In computing, a mechanical device, such as a gripper arm, that follows the movements of a human limb. Waldos were developed by the nuclear industry in the 1940s for handling hazardous substances at a safe distance, and were named after a 1942 story by science fiction writer Robert Heinlein. |
