Waldron

Town and administrative headquarters of Scott County, west Arkansas; population (1990) 3,000. It is situated on the Poteau River, in the Ouachita Mountains, 61 km/38 mi south-southeast of Fort Smith, and 32 km/20 mi east of the Oklahoma state border. Waldron is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest. It is a processing and distribution hub for a poultry producing, lumbering, coal mining, farming, and dairying area.
