Walmer

Resort in Kent, southeast England, south of Deal; population (2001) 6,700. Its castle, built for Henry VIII in about 1539, has been the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports since the 18th century. The Duke of Wellington died here in 1852. Walmer is a reputed landing place of Julius Caesar in 55 BC.
