Walmsley-Clark, Penelope (1949– )

English soprano. She made appearances in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in the UK first performances of Berio's Un rè in Ascolto/A King in Waiting (1989), as the Queen of the Night, and as Guinevere in the first performance of Birtwistle's Gawain and the Green Knight (1991). Other modern repertory includes Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre (in Vienna), Shostakovich's 14th symphony, Moses und Aron, and Henze's Elegy for Young Lovers (in Venice). She later turned to more mainstream roles, such as Donna Anna with the English National Opera ensemble, in 1995.
