Walsh, ‘Big Ed’ (1881–1959)

US baseball pitcher. During his 14-year career (1904–17), mostly with the Chicago White Sox, he won 40 games in 1908 and 195 games overall. A right-hander who threw a spitball when the pitch was allowed, he was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1946. Walsh was born in Plains, Pennsylvania.
