Walsh, Raoul (1887–1980)

US film director and actor. A prolific and enduring director, whose career spanned nearly 50 years, he was a specialist in tough action stories. He made a number of outstanding films, including The Thief of Bagdad (1924), The Roaring Twenties (1939), Objective Burma (1945), White Heat (1949), and The Tall Men (1955).

He retired in 1964.
