Wangaratta

Town in Victoria, Australia, 209 km/130 mi northeast of Melbourne; population (1996) 15,527. Wangaratta lies at the junction of the Ovens and King rivers, in the centre of an agricultural district in which hops and tobacco are grown, sheep are raised, and there are vineyards. Industries include the production of textiles and computer supplies.

The Airworld Aviation Museum in Wangaratta has one of the largest collections of civil aircraft in the world. A jazz festival and a country music festival are held here annually.
