Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, known as ‘the Kingmaker’. He all but ruled England in the first three years of Edward IV's reign, but his influence declined when Edward married Elizabeth Woodville and he began intrigues to restore the former king, Henry VI.

English politician, called the Kingmaker. During the Wars of the Roses he fought at first on the Yorkist side against the Lancastrians, and was largely responsible for placing Edward IV on the throne. Having quarrelled with him, he restored Henry VI in 1470, but was defeated and killed by Edward at Barnet, Hertfordshire. He was made an earl in 1449.
