Wasatch Mountains

Range of the Rocky Mountains in Utah and Idaho. Largely pine-covered, they form the eastern margin of the Great Basin and contain at least four peaks over 3,350 m/11,000 ft high. The highest is Timpanogos Peak (3,660 m/12,000 ft). The Weber, Ogden, and Provo rivers flow through the range and it includes parts of Uinta and Wasatch national forests in Utah. Copper, lead, silver, and gold are mined near Provo and Salt Lake City, but tourism is also significant.

Mormons have lived in the valley since 1847.
