Watchet

Town and port in Somerset, southwest England, on the Bristol Channel, 27 km/17 mi northwest of Taunton; population (2001, with nearby Washford) 3,950. Wood pulp is imported through the port and the town has paper mills, and paper-bag and shirt factories.

The town dates from Anglo-Saxon times and the port was at one time an important outlet for iron ore from the Brendon Hills to the southwest of the town.
