Wath upon Dearne

Town in South Yorkshire, England, 11 km/7 mi from Barnsley, on the Dearne and Dove Canal; population (2001) 10,700. Industries include coke manufacture and brewing. There used to be coal mines and marshalling yards distributing the coal mined in the Dearne valley to Lancashire and the south.
