Watson, Emily (1967– )

English stage and screen actor. An accomplished character performer, Watson first won international acclaim for her debut film performance in Lars von Trier's Breaking the Waves (1998). She was subsequently nominated for an Academy Award for her interpretation of celebrated cellist Jacqueline Du Pré in Hilary and Jackie (1998).

Her other films include The Mill on the Floss (1997), The Boxer (1997), The Cradle Will Rock (1999), and Angelas's Ashes (1999). Watson is married to British writer and actor Jack Waters, with whom she performed in a stage production of Taming of the Shrew. Her stage credits also include a role in the Lilliam Hellman play The Children's Hour.
