Wayne, James Moore

Wayne, James Moore (1790–1867)

US Supreme Court justice. He served as mayor of Savannah, as a circuit court judge (1824–29), and in the US House of Representatives serving Georgia (from 1829). President Andrew Jackson appointed him to the US Supreme Court (1835–67) where he had a long but undistinguished career. Wayne was born in Savannah, Georgia.
