Weatherford

Town in Custer County, west-central Oklahoma; population (1990) 10,100. It is located 96 km/60 mi west of Oklahoma City. A commercial and processing centre for wheat, cotton, and other agricultural producers, the town is also the home of Southwestern Oklahoma State University (1901).

Weatherford

Town and administrative headquarters of Parker County, north-central Texas; population (1990) 14,800. It is located 48 km/30 mi west of Fort Worth. With an economy based on agriculture, it also makes electronic and oilfield equipment, silicone and plastic products, and fertilizer. Weatherford College (1869) is in the town, which is also home to a number of medical facilities.
