Weaver, Pat

Weaver, (Sylvester L) Pat (1908–2002)

US television executive. A radio writer and producer, he served as a Young and Rubicam advertising manager in the 1940s. Joining National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in 1949, he became president (1953–55), later chairman, creating the Today and Tonight shows. In 1956 he returned to advertising, later founding Subscription Television in Los Angeles, California. Weaver was born in Los Angeles. He is the father of the actor Sigourney Weaver.
