Webb, William Snyder (1882–1964)| US physicist and archaeologist. He was long on the faculty of the University of Kentucky (1904–50), where he headed the departments of physics and anthropology and archaeology. He was archaeologist of the Tennessee Valley Authority (1934–37) and, during World War II, aided the US atomic bomb effort at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Webb was born in Greendale, Kentucky. |
