Weber, Bernhard Anselm (1764–1821)

German composer, conductor, and pianist. A pupil of Vogler, he was music director of the Grossmann opera troupe in Hanover (1787–90), and toured Scandinavia with his old teacher. From 1792 he conducted at the court opera in Berlin from 1792, and was made Kapellmeister in 1804.

Works

operas and Singspiele, for example Mudarra (1800), Die Jungfrau von Orleans, Wallenstein, and other plays; two melodramas; songs.
