Web site

Collection of Web pages belonging to the same company, organization, or individual. The first Web site page to be displayed on a browser is known as the home page. Sites designed to be a gateway to the rest of the World Wide Web are called portals. A Web site may be physically located on a local Web server or hosted by an Internet Service Provider (see Web hosting).

Web site traffic analysis shows which Web pages a visitor is viewing, for how long, and at what time. At the top end of the market, sophisticated analysis programs provide real-time electronic commerce revenue tracking. This can show revenue by product over time, reveal which visitors are browsing and which purchasing, and track revenue, differentiating between first-time and repeat buyers.
