Weddell Sea

Arm of the Southern Atlantic Ocean that cuts into the Antarctic continent southeast of Cape Horn; area 8,000,000 sq km/3,088,800 sq mi. Much of it is covered with thick pack ice for most of the year.

The sea indents Antarctica between the Antarctic Peninsula and Coats Land (British Antarctic Territory).
