Weigel, Gustave A (1906-1964)

US Catholic priest and theologian. A Jesuit, he was a theology professor in Chile (1937-48) and at a Jesuit seminary in Maryland (from 1949). He was a pioneering advocate of ecumenism and played a key role as interpreter and liaison for non-Catholics at the Second Vatican Council. Weigel was born in Buffalo, New York.
