Weinberg, John Livingston

Weinberg, John Livingston (1925–2006)

US investment banker. He joined Goldman, Sachs & Co., where his father was a senior partner. He himself rose to partner in 1956 and senior partner in 1976. Named senior chairman of the firm in 1990, he continued Goldman, Sachs's traditionally conservative policies. Weinberg was born in New York City. He graduated from Princeton University in 1948, and then gained a graduate degree from Harvard University in 1950. A Marine Corps veteran (1942–46; 1951–52), he served as a Princeton trustee.
