Weis, Flemming (1898–1981)

Danish composer. A member of a musical family, he began to compose as a child. In 1916 he entered the Copenhagen Conservatory and in 1920 finished studies at Leipzig. He was active on behalf of contemporary music and also as a music critic.

The Promised Land for chorus and orchestra.

Orchestral

two symphonies (1942, 1948), symphonic overture and In temporis vernalis for orchestra.

Ensemble

Introduction grave for piano and strings.

Chamber

four string quartets (1922–77) and other chamber music; sonatas for various instruments.

Other

suite and sonatina for piano; songs.
