Weiser

Town and administrative headquarters of Washington County, west Idaho; population (1990) 4,600. It is situated on the Snake River at the mouth of the Weiser River, on the Oregon state border, 97 km/60 mi northwest of Boise. It is a trade, processing, and shipping centre for a fruit, onion, corn, alfalfa, potato, sugar beet, and livestock producing region. The National Old-Time Fiddler's Contest is held annually in the town. A section of Hells Canyon lies to the west of Weiser.
