Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Medical, Acronyms, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia | 0.02 sec. |
Welsh corgiBreed of dog with a foxlike head and pricked ears, originally bred for cattle herding. The coat is dense, with several varieties of colouring. Corgis are about 30 cm/12 in at the shoulder, and weigh up to 12 kg/27 lb. There are two types of corgi, the Pembrokeshire and the Cardiganshire. The Pembrokeshire has a finely textured coat, yellowish or reddish brown, or sometimes black and tan, and has almost no tail. The Cardiganshire corgi has a short, rough coat, usually red and white, and a long furry tail. Their small size is an advantage because cattle are unable to bend low enough to gore them.
