Wenatchee River

River rising on the east of the Cascade Range in Washington State, and flowing generally southeast; length 105 km/65 mi. It passes through the Wenatchee National Forest (area 8,500 sq km/3,280 sq mi) and joins the Columbia River just above the city of Wenatchee. The Wenatchee has many hydroelectric and irrigation dams.

With its rich volcanic soil, the Wenatchee Valley is one of the world's principal apple-producing areas. The Wenatchee Mountains, an eastern spur of the Cascades, run parallel to the river for some 64 km/40 mi, down to its junction with the Columbia.
