West, Timothy (1934– )

English actor. A frequent player in West End and Royal Shakespeare Company productions, he is most widely known for his leading roles in television's Edward the Seventh (1975), Churchill and the Generals (1979), Brass (1983, 1990), Blore, MP (1989), Beecham (1990), and Reith to the Nation (1993).

More recently, he was an acclaimed Falstaff in the English Touring Company's production of Shakespeare's Henry IV, parts I and II (1996–97). Other television work includes Edward II (1970), The Edwardians (1973), Hard Times (1977), Henry VIII (1979), The Last Bastion, and Framed (1992).

West was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, the son of actor Lockwood West, and started his career as an assistant stage manager at Wimbledon Theatre in 1956.
