West Haverstraw

Community in Haverstraw town, Rockland County, southeast New York; population (1990) 9,200. It is located to the west of the Hudson River, 13 km/8 mi northwest of Nyack. There are a number of light industries in West Haverstraw. The Treason House is here, where Benedict Arnold and the British Major John André plotted the betrayal of the garrison at West Point in 1780.
