St Lucia in the West Indies. The tiny island (only 43 km/27 mi wide and 23 km/14 mi long) possesses lush rainforests in its mountainous interior.

Archipelago of about 1,200 islands, dividing the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The archipelago is divided into:

Bahamas;

Greater Antilles: Cuba, Hispaniola (Haiti, Dominican Republic), Jamaica, and Puerto Rico;

Lesser Antilles: Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, Trinidad and Tobago, the Windward Islands (Grenada, Barbados, St Vincent, St Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe), the Leeward Islands (Montserrat, Antigua, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbuda, Anguilla, St Martin, British and US Virgin Islands), and many smaller islands.
