Resort on the Wirral peninsula at the mouth of the River Dee, metropolitan county of Merseyside, northwest England, 13 km/8 mi west of Birkenhead. It serves as a residential area connected by railway to Liverpool.

SAILING: West Kirby Sailing Club, via their Hawks team, put their name on their own Wilson Trophy for the first time since 2001 after a spectacular three-day event for the British Team Racing Championship in Firefly dinghies on the Marine Lake at West Kirby.
The first phase of the work is finished and the lake will be available for West Kirby Sailing Club to hold this weekend's Wilson Trophy sailing event.
Irish Construction giant Pierse Group has pulled the plug on Northwich UK, which has just handed the lake back to West Kirby Sailing Club for the period of the Wilson Trophy, set to start on Friday, May 1.
