Westbury

Market town in Wiltshire, southwest England, 8 km/5 mi southeast of Trowbridge; population (2001) 11,500. It is a railway junction; industries include leather working, food processing, and the manufacture of cloth, gloves, cement, and electric clocks, and there is a large engineering contracting firm.

East of the town is the White Horse of Westbury, cut into the chalk of Westbury Hill, dating in its present form from the 18th century.

The town has a Perpendicular Gothic church.

Westbury

Community in North Hempstead town, west-central Long Island, Nassau County, southeast New York; population (1990) 13,100. It is located 37 km/23 mi east of Manhattan. It is primarily residential, although its southern border is part of a popular commercial shopping strip. The area was settled by English Quakers in 1665.
