Westray

One of the Orkney Islands, Scotland, 33 km/20 mi north of Kirkwall; population (2001) 563. Lying to the northwest of the archipelago, its landmass covers an area 16 km/10 mi long by 2–4 km/1–2.5 mi wide. Agriculture, fishing, and fish processing are the main occupations.

The 16th-century stronghold of Noltland Castle stands over the harbour village of Pierowall to the north of the island.

Holly Crocker, Leanne Cursiter, Solan and Cassia Dodman, Shane Houston and Rowan Pierce, all aged 13 and 14, will make a twominute flight from Papa Westray to Westray in the Orkney Islands to go to Westray Junior High.
