Wetherby

Town in West Yorkshire, England, on the River Wharfe, 17 km/11 mi northeast of Leeds; population (2001) 26,500. It has mineral-water, light engineering, nylon-weaving, food-canning, electronic instrument, and prepacked-food industries, a cattle market, and a trade in agricultural produce. There is a racecourse nearby.
