Weyerhaeuser, Frederick E

    0.01 sec.

Weyerhaeuser, Frederick E(dward) (1872–1945)

US lumberman and financier. After studying at Yale University, and a four-year apprenticeship, in 1900 Weyerhaeuser became president of Southern Lumber Company in Arkansas. In 1903 he moved to his father, Frederick Weyerhaeuser's, office in St Paul, Minnesota, where he managed finances and founded the Weyerhaeuser Sales Company to market lumber from competing, yet associated, mills in 1916. He held various directorships and served as treasurer (1906–28) and president (1928–45) of the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company.

Weyerhaeuser was born in Rock Island, Illinois. He was a member of an extended family of lumberjacks and sawmill operators; his father had formed scores of joint ventures involving timberland and sawmill operations throughout the Pacific northwest and along the Mississippi in Louisiana and Arkansas. A Presbyterian, Frederick Weyerhaeuser, Jr, actively supported the Union Gospel Mission and the Young Men's Christian Association.
