Wharfedale

Valley in West and North Yorkshire, England, in the Yorkshire Dales national park, extending from Wetherby to the source of the River Wharfe on Cam Fell. Lower Wharfedale is a rich agricultural district.

The area includes Harewood, where there is a ruined medieval castle, and Ilkley, the largest town in the dale. Upper Wharfedale, above the ruins of Bolton Abbey, a priory founded in 1151, includes the village of Grassington. The village of Hubberholme lies at the northern end of the dale at the entrance to Langstrothdale.
