White, John

White, John (lived late 16th century)

English artist and pioneer. He was one of the first settlers in Walter Raleigh's colony in Virginia 1585 and later became its governor. He made studies in watercolour depicting the life and customs of the American Indians and the flora and fauna of the New World.
