White, Paul

White, Paul (1859–1973)

US composer, conductor, and violinist. He attended the New England Conservatory, but also studied composition with Chadwick, violin with E Ysaÿe, and conducting with Goossens, whose orchestra at Cincinnati he joined. Later he became conductor of the Civic and Eastman School orchestras at Rochester, New York, and in 1938 became a member of the faculty of the Eastman School.

Voyage of the Mayflower for chorus and orchestra; symphony in E minor, Lyric Overture; string quartet.
