Whitfield, June Rosemary (1925– )

English comic actor. Since making her name as Eth Glum in the radio series Take It From Here (1953–60), she has been a stalwart of television comedy, including a long association with Terry Scott in such series as Terry and June (1979–87), and more recently in Jennifer Saunder's Absolutely Fabulous (1993–96). Her film appearances include two Carry On productions. In 1994 she was given the Lifetime Achievement award at the British Comedy Awards.

Whitfield was born in Streatham, London. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and initially worked in revues, musicals, and pantomimes as a foil to some of the top comedians in showbusiness.
