Whitman

Town in Plymouth County, southeast Massachusetts; population (2000 est) 13,900. It lies to the east of Brockton, 32 km/20 mi south-southeast of Boston. Industries have included shoe and textile machinery, shoe polish, tacks, plastics, foundry products, burial vaults, forestry, and wooden products. However, the town is now mostly a residential community. It was originally incorporated in 1875 as South Abington and became Whitman in 1886.

This is what I find the fatal defect of our American Ossian, Walt Whitman, whose way is where artistic madness lies.
