Whitten, Charles Arthur

Whitten, Charles Arthur (1909–1994)

US geodesist. A member of the US Coast and Geodetic Survey (1930–68) and its chief geodesist (1968–72), his computations and analysis of the earth's crustal movements furthered the international prominence of US geodesy. Whitten was born in Redfield, South Dakota.
