Who, theEnglish rock group, formed in 1964, with a hard, aggressive sound, high harmonies, and a tendency to destroy their instruments on stage. Their albums include Tommy (1969), Quadrophenia (1973) (both also rock operas), and Who's Next (1971). Hit singles include ‘My Generation’, ‘I Can't Explain’, and ‘I Can See for Miles’. Originally a mod band, the Who comprised Pete Townshend (1945– ), guitar and songwriter; Roger Daltrey (1944– ), vocals; John Entwistle (1944–2002), bass; and Keith Moon (1947–1978), drums. The group reformed for various performances in the 1990s, to a mixed reception. How to thank TFD for its existence?
