Wiener, Otto (1913– )

German baritone. He sang first with the Vienna Boys' Choir, and from 1939 appeared as a concert singer. He continued in concert after the war and made his stage debut in 1953 at Graz, as Boccanegra. He made appearances at Düsseldorf (1956–59), Vienna (from 1957), and Munich (from 1960). He appeared at Bayreuth between 1957 and 1963, as Sachs, Wotan, Gunther, and the Dutchman. He appeared as a guest performer in London and Milan, and sang in Klemperer's first recording of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis.
