Wilberforce

Community in Xenia township, Greene County, southwest Ohio; population (1990) 2,700. It is located 5 km/3 mi northeast of Xenia, in hilly, wooded country. Wilberforce University (1856), the oldest African American-run institution of higher learning in the USA, and Central State University (1887) are both located here. Wilberforce is also the site of the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center.
